Bee Hive Deck

A raised deck around beehives elevates workers to reach tall hives without straining their arms or allows them to stand at ground level to reach low hives without bending their back. Successful beekeepers inspect their hives regularly for bee health, pests, and honey production. This requires unstacking the hive bodies (weighing up to 90-pounds) and pulling out frames to inspect the bottom boxes. The raised deck helps handle both the tall hives and accessing the lower hives at the same time. A deck can be built with new wood, or repurposed materials such as the boat dock shown here.
